Microwave racing is a sport like no other. Racers do battle over set tasks and the first one to finish wins. The winner will likely be a mix of the racer's ability to ride the microwave, the microwave's ease of use, the task and the context. Who will win?? You decide!!

WARNING: Microwaving whilst empty can cause damage. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions. Always race responsibly.

This film is a clip from Man-Machine Nightmares: Human Error, Chaos Buttons and Healthcare.

This film was made as part of the CHI+MED (Computer-Human Interaction in Medicine) project. This multidisciplinary project aims to improve the safety of interactive (programmable) medical devices, such as infusion pumps. By understanding more about device design and human factors, medical errors can be reduced thus saving lives. CH+MED is funded by EPSRC grant EP/G059063/1.
