Great Video. I study the Crusades quite a bit and this tells the story of the First Crusade very well. It is tragic that the problems in region today stem from events that took place almost a thousand years ago.

Ok, this is all good and fine but did the crusaders really eat 4,000 people? Where did you find that?

You couldn't be further from the truth. Do you tell yourself these lies over and over at night to make them sound good? Sounds like you do. Read a book and get educated.

This guy obviously doesn't know much about the crusades. He should try reading up on some non bias sources that take a look from both western european, eastern european, and muslim sources. Some of what he said was right but I think he needs to do a little more research before posting a video online. For example blaming the crusaders for the reason the holy land is in turmoil today??? Cmon man it has been in turmoil since ancient times long before Christianity and Islam even came to be.

Your reason for the beginning of the crusades parallels the reason for the viking outbreak on europe a few centuries earlier...too many people, not enough land.
And I'm sure they were also motivated by profit. Sons with no land could go off to the holy land, looting along the way (sanctioned by god)to enlarge their coffers in order to return home and conquer kingdoms for themselves. History is absolutely fascinating. Technology changes, but man does not.

Religion makes me sick.

Good. look up Investiture contest between Pope Gregory VII and Holy Roman Emperor Henry. Idea of Crusade first was Gregory's - in order to unite Christendom under the cross (church) not a king or emperor. the end
Very Educational. Were you a history major or soemthing?

The short answer is yes. The somewhat more complex answer is history is very interesting and I would read it even without a history education. ;)
