Pork roasts cook beautifully by microwave but because they cook so quickly they don't have time to develop the golden brown of a conventionally cooked roast. And that's another reason I developed the jump start technique.
Season a 2-3 pound loin or shoulder roast with salt and pepper, and maybe a little rosemary or whatever you like. Place in an appropriate size microwave dish and cover with plastic wrap or the dish cover. Microwave on high for about 5 minutes per pound or to an internal temperature of 150F, 65C. Transfer the meat to a glass or metal pie plate or similar dish and place in your toaster or conventional oven set at 400F, 200C (no pre-heating required) for about 8 minutes or until nicely browned. In the meantime make gravy with the juices in the microwave dish. The roast will be delicious and you will have saved over 2 kWh of energy.
