Ken Holder is a well-known and appreciated local artist. He taught painting in the School of Art at Illinois State University from 1969 to 1998. He received his BFA from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and his MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited widely and frequently. Holder grew up in Texas, and the Texan landscape has always featured prominently in his artwork. His first drawings were of a horse and rider.
