Ken Holder is a well-known and appreciated local artist. He taught painting in the School of Art at Illinois State University from 1969 to 1998. He received his BFA from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and his MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited widely and frequently. Holder grew up in Texas, and the Texan landscape has always featured prominently in his artwork. His first drawings were of a horse and rider. Holder also is a mean banjo player and is a member of the Old Men Boyz.
Please join us for the exhibition's opening reception on Friday, January 14, from 5pm to 7pm. Ken Holder will present an ART TALK on Tuesday, January 25, at 7pm, and he will perform with The Old Men Boys in the MCAC's Brandt Gallery on the First Friday of February (the 4th) from 5pm to 8pm. All of these events are free and open to the public.
