  • dumb ass this is wado-ryu karate. Your form of karate is different where pinan shodan is pinan nidan and vice versa

  • It's better low belts not comment on grand masters like Suzuki.. He's one of the greatest in the world.. First u learn karate, practice, atleast for 20 years and study about other styles also.. hen, u may able to understand other styles.. Dnt just talk.. But, u need a good teacher also to learn to look at other styles open minded. All the best..

  • Thanks for posting. Very helpful and informative! Suzuki sensei is (was) amazing (RIP). kata to me is the ascent up the mountain. To achieve perfection is the goal that few ever attain. It's more of an ideal but you keep working out things, refining them. I like Wado's philosophy towards kata though. Ohtsuka I believe disagreed with Funakoshi over the importance of kata.

  • kuchen

  • @wildlioness333 Well, after pinan sandan for green belt, we have pinan yondan for blue, (i dont know how to spell it,) Pinan Godan for brown belt.

  • In the past few months I have begun to learn Karate. I'm still unsure as to what comes next. Currently I'm at 8th kyu (yellow belt) and have learnt Pinan Shodan, Pinan Nidan and Pinan Sandan. What comes next? Thank you for uploading this video it has come in handy!

  • This is kata as kata should be performed. One shall imagine an opponent in a fight. One cannot compare the way kata is performed in competions today with the way Sensei Suzuki perform and teach how to perform kata. Check out Sensei Suzukis Kihon & Ohyo gumite, not many people have this speed and power!

  • @thejman4eva Different styles have different katas. In our style Wado Ryu, Pinan Shodan (this one) is the first one but you learn it to 6. kyu (green belt) while Pinan Nidan is learned to 7. kuy (orange belt). Maybe because Pinan Nidan is an easier kata to learn for beginners.

  • make that 4 hours a day maybe :)

I know Oyama Kancho trained as much he could and was always teaching or lecturing on Kyokushin karate

    osu!

  • This is not pinan shodan...this is pinan nidan...

  • The arm by the forehead isn't a block, on either side.
