  • 6) I don't think embyonic stem cells will be a cure all and we will have a cure next week. I want ALL avenues of research explored: embryonic, adult, cord blood, etc. But they all need to have a chance to be explored. And the longer we wait, the more time lapses until we know SOMETHING!

Finally, it's not all about my husband. It's about the millions of folks who suffer each day. what about their "sanctity of human life"? What about their right to pay taxes and raise their families?

  • 4) Why should the President be deciding this policy on HIS beliefs? Isn't he supposed to be a voice of the people". Do you know multiple surveys of citizens are over 60% in favor of embryonic stem cell research?

    5) All I really want is to be able to have the scientists do the work they need to do. Do you know that federally funded scientists have to do their work in a completely separate lab due to the Bush restrictions? Which requires duplicate labs and more money spent.

  • 2) Go read what scientists and ethicists have to say on embyonic stem cell research. I think you will find that over 90% of ethicists take no issue with this form of research.

    3) My BIG and obvious point in my video is that the cells are going to be destroyed ANYWAY!

  • As the person who recorded this video, I think I need to clarify my position and respond to some of the comments posted in response to my video:

    1) I am quite aware of the millions of dollars the US government spends on embryonic stem cell research.

  • Stem cell research is a pro-life choice. Most people that disagree with the research are uneducated and have a misunderstanding of the process. The embryonic cells used are from embryos that are 3-5 days old. They have no nervous system. They feel no pain. They aren't developed. Our goal should be advancing our species. We need to support stem cell research.

  • I am a physician who wishes you and your husband the best. I also have a son with a severe debilitating neurological disorder. I oppose such research. There are many many alternate avenues for ethical research that should be explored. Human embryo destruction and production is at best, unethical, and in fact, cannibalistic. Funding for such research takes away funding from real research that can lead to potential treatments and cures. I wish you only the best.

  • To 3)

I know! Most people disagree with the research because they don't know this!

  • Sorry, but do you realize that the embyos that are used in the research had absolutely 0 chance of living in the first place? The embryos are donated from fertilization clinics. . . Clinics that are unable to use all of the eggs that they have. . . They are discarded. So is simply throwing them away any better when they could be used for a much noble cause? I don't agree completely with Embryonic Stem-Cell research, but your logic is inadequate.

  • Sorry, typo on the fourth line, meant adult stem-cell research.

  • Why should we kill in order for science to "progress." Would it be morally acceptable for the CIA to go into your house, kill you and your family, and use you for the sake of "progress." Isn't that what you're trying to imply? According to your logic it's okay for people to use live human beings for research. I'm all for adult embryonic stem-cell research, since it has actually brought about cures in Europe you won't hear on the news. Embryonic- 0 cures and counting!

  • I support embryonic stem cells and SCNT stem cells research!

  • I've always been for stem cell research but only recently really started looking into the different types and after reading a lot, i support embryonic stem cell research, and even think it's out duty as human beings to explore these types of stem cells. I'm truly sorry to hear about your husband. my aunt has RA and i see the pain she's in. she's only 40 and has had it for years. I hope that the US has the sight and compassion to start funding ESC research.

  • Only abt. 30% support tax funding for mbryo destroying research (the higher number is for 'stem cell research' not EMBRYONIC). Policy in line w/American public. Dickey Amendment (signed by B.Clinton) prohibits funding for research that destroys the embryo. Bush 1st to fund and trains researchers. Dems playing political game and refused to bring bill expanding human embryonic stem cell research (S.30) for signature so Bush had to do it with an executive order.
