You get a windscreen that weighs only 8 gm for the price of a disposable baking sheet, though it doesn't have to be new--beg one off a co-worker, girlfriend, mom, etc and it doesn't have to be clean b/c anything stuck to it will be burned off in the first few rounds on the stove--no reason to use a baking sheet only once. It also fits anywhere, including inside your saucepan or you can fold it any way you wish . works for any canister stove and almost all others. When it finally wears out, make another.

Fold up as many leaves of the screen as you need, to permit observation of the flame and to keep too much heat from accumulating.

  • Thank you for the compliment, Ty. My windscreen fits in my pot, a 0.9 L Evernew Titanium saucepan. The diameter of mine is about 4.5" (11.4 cm). This is also about the size of the lid of a 1 lb margarine tub, which you can place on the screen material and trace around with a permanent marker.

Everything is tough with the loss of use of a hand, but I think you can make this with one hand. If not, I hope you can find a friend who'll help you make one of these.

    Cheers!
