I wanted to show the versatility of the Cold Steel Kukri Machette. I have made modifications to this machette acording to the mods taught by Colhane.

  • very Kukri biased. You could tell that you were swing a whole lot harder with the kukri. It went out of video sight when swing, but you were hardly hitting with the ax. Come on.

  • @jtdrummer2112 Sorry you feel that way. I was not being biased in any way, in fact I have no reason to be biased. If you truly listen to the vid I was showing versatility of the kukri which I do prefer simply for that reason. I keep the axe in my truck because it too has its value.

  • I suspect that the kukri is more versatile. It is definitely lighter which to me is the big plus. Splitting wood, driving tent stakes, hammering nails, hammering poles in the ground, and the like I would prefer a good ax. I would also prefer an ax in the north country or in a long term situation. I don't own an ax, but do own (the exact) a kukri and love it. It's excellent for the brushy part of Texas that I live in and the short jaunts that I take.

  • @thenrylee I would have to agree. The Kukri is not exactly suited for hammering, but its real easy to cut a log that can be used to do the hammering. I too live in Texas and the Kukri works great here as well as the wooded parts of OK where I am from.

  • Never used a Kukri,But use a Ka-Bar Cutlass Mechete over a hatchet/axe.Nice Video.

  • @coyote238 Thanks coyote, An axe has its uses, but the machette has many more uses and weighs less.

  • @kyadak Actually its the kukri machette apart from that I dont know.

  • Is that the Magnum or the standard Cold Steel Kukri?

  • @hillbillybushcraft The recon scout is my knife of choice as well. I have a Carbon V model. I admit the Axe has its uses, but if I had to choose I would take the kukri and use it to make any tools I might need, mainly a hammer

  • I have a cold steel recon scout and a cheap camp axe and I would take my knife over that axe any day. But I really think it depends on the axe your comparing it to. I would take both when ever possible.

  • @mryellow123 Thanks fror the info, mryellow. Most of the time that is exactly what I do. I didn't even realize until I was watching the vid that I didn't do that. Kind of strange.
