Strange diagonal bars on Macbook Pro Screen

Something very strange just happened to my Macbook Pro and I wanted to see if anyone has seen this issue before. My Macbook Pro was in sleep mode when I decided to turn it on to plug in my second external HDD to the USB port. I took the Macbook out of its sleep mode and attempted to eject the external HDD currently plugged in. What I got was this very bizzare effect. The screen suddenly displayed strange diagonal bars all over. The mouse would no longer move and none of the buttons where operating.

@evo68 Hey there, my problem was with the graphics card and I ended up getting a new Mac. Apple charges about £300 to replace it. Hope it helps. Thx for the comment
