The red piece is an S² Engine which is not something Unit 01 had until near the end of the series after it went berserk and ate it off of the angel Zeruel. So, if you want the standard/classic Unit 01 look it would be sans S² Engine.

I love the anime and was thinking of getting this but know if feels like a waste of money glades I didn't pick this up

nice review the only thing I didn't like is your not knowing what an eva really is , it isn't a robot it is alive , but nice review.

I don't think I will get this. I already have an EVA 01 statue, so this would serve the same function. I'd want something with more pose and play value.

@blackcomet1 hey bro. i got this when i went to Thailand in december. i havent seen this on normal sites like hlj.com or ishop2go.com etc. I saw a couple on ebay but at high prices.

the black part is what unit 1 has on his chest to begin with in the anime, it is used to cover up the red jewel
