Average to below average vault day

Ryan Cook, Owen Wagnor, Michael Seaman
Samford University pole vault, week of first meet at MTSU. Everyone was battling muscle fatigue and poor weather from weeks past. Good video to watch for improvement!

  • This song goes through my head on my big jumps, this school must be good

  • the guy in grey shirt looks like he could use maybe 5-10lb heavier pole.

  • how high is the bungie?

  • @Burkyboy48 i have that problem too at times. it helps to rock back as much as you can. if you think of it as the hands of a clock, rocking back to 12 o'clock will mean you're basically vertical and allow you to shoot up instead of out. if you rock back to lets say 9 o'clock and then shoot up, you're shooting out diagonally instead of shooting up. that's why i try to rock back past 12 then shoot up

  • @Burkyboy48 im not that experienced but i think i can help. you should try waiting a little bit when you plant before you rock back; this will bend the shit out of the pole so you dont just blow right through the vault. then when you do rock back, focus on getting completely straight and upside down; this should send you straight up. hope this helps

  • Any tips for me. I am shooting out instead of going up the pole.

  • @2010polevaulter cakem
