  • why are filtering rain water? rainwater is already clean.

  • not when it comes off a dirty hill

  • Next time you produce charcoal, make it by using a medium to hot fire and make it so its fairly anerobic (little fresh air stoking the fire). If you can, start a fire and when you get red hot coals, Take the coals off to the side and stack in in a thin layer with a little sand on top. This should limit to amount of air going to the coals. After charcoal is produced rinse thoroughly before using it as a filter.

  • thanx for the input. have you done this before? can you tell me of a good book on this kind of stuff????

  • You should get a millbank bag. It does the same thing a lot easier. Also if you put the charcoal on top and had it go through the other bandanas the water would probley be clearer.

  • thanx

  • more sand more charcoal.. way to thin to do much also it takes time to flush all the stuff out so you have to do it way more times the thing is if your doing it with the same jar like you did the contaniments that made it through also can infect the jar..

  • also if you collect it off trees stuff like that underpower lines theres usally aot of bird crap on the plants.. and you dont want that in your drinking water..

  • couldn't you just use the rain coats as a rainwater collector and drink rain water>>>LOl

or was that not the point of the exercise??

  • Great effort guys! Very iventive, but I think I still just want to use my own Bottle Filter!
