And then came psychologist Oliver James. I can only assume this will become a YouTube moment. It's difficult to capture the intensity of James's anger in a blog post but in essence he suggested that McNulty and May should hang their heads in shame for their role in what he called "Blatcherism". They were "disgusting" he said. Quite a moment, but I couldn't help thinking that McNulty was a good sport for being there.--The spectator
The problems and collapse of this system was predicted by Susan Strange who coined the phrase Casino Capitalism. Just ignore those idiot polititians who say its wrong, of course they do it's protecting the system that provides their priviledge.
All we need is a popular movement that adopts different values and ignores them and they will disapear - they will have to find someone else to screw over.

I just have to say ... Theresa May's face was just a picture... oddly not of contempt but of something else..

James has made some interesting comments about 9/11 too,off the back of a very well connected contact in the upper echelons of the military. All in The Selfish Capitalist, which is an excellent read.

I'd have enjoyed this rant more if Oliver James wasn't an anti-scientific crank.

this man is an absolute hero - a generally intelligent human being who has passion - and genuinely researched his perspectives. "the neo-liberalist selfish capitalist project turned us into "it could be you", "credit fuelled consumer binging junkies ... we should be putting being ahead of having"

Having just read Affluenza - this ROCKS! Thank you Mr. James - for everything you've said here and also for putting that gobsmacked look(!!) on the panel's faces (YES!) AND for managing to finish without the arrogance of Paxman interupting. A year on and those GREEDY bankers will be even more protected by their pals in the new government.

Watched this debate as it was televised and I started to applaud very long and very loud.
What impressed me wasn't so much the anger displayed by Oliver James; but the accuracy and honesty of what he said.
This should be required viewing in every school and college up and down the land.
Neoliberal rubbish in fact, providing the intellectual gloss for selfish capitalism, and violent murderous "globalisation" in deed.
NEOLIBERALISM HAS FAILED!

The witch is finally dead (Maggie). loved watching the panel squirm - but we masses all bought into the consumptive happiness and loyally accepted the elites selfish behaviour.
