Another thing that I find helpful for learning to think in the target language is to (if you can) change the language of the media/tools to the target language. My youtube has been in japanese for about a year now and it feels weird when I read it in english (my native language).

@jugglingotaku That is a great tip! I've had several students tell me that they are switching their cell phones, computer languages, etc over to the language they are studying. Thanks for sharing that idea. ;)

this guy knows what he's talking about. i started doing this three years ago with german, after I was in germany for a few months and realized that my german was terrible..wrote down anything and everything possible, including objects, common sayings, uncommon sayings and old german, etc. It's really fun and i make a game out of it. sometimes it doesn't stop at an object itself, but if i want to describe the object, i have learned some other describing words as well. i love it :-D
