Fiddle player Anna Falkenau and singer/songwriter/guitarist Ivan Murray play an exciting program of original and traditional songs and tunes, rooted in both Irish and American music traditions. The music Murray & Falkenau create is full of warmth and spirit, blending a strong sense of melody and traditional expertise. They bring to their set a wealth of musical experience, distilled into subtle and powerful music making.

A virtuoso fiddle player Anna Falkenau has been described as an excellent exponent of traditional Irish fiddle playing and as an ambassador for what is best in Irish traditional music. Anna has performed extensively both solo and with noted Irish traditional artists, such as séan-nos player and flutist John Flanagan, singer/guitarist Mick Daly (Any Old Time, Four Men and a Dog), button accordion champion John Whelan and concertina/harp player Holly Geraghty at Festivals and Folk Clubs in Ireland, the US, and England. She has performed in more informal settings with the likes of Johnny Moynihan (of Sweeneys Men), Mary Shannon (of the Sharon Shannon Band), the late Seamus Creagh and Aidan Coffey (of De Dannan). As a member of Liz Dohertys Fiddlesticks, Anna has played in prominent venues throughout Ireland, and appeared on Irish national television and radio. Anna is a founding member of Galway-based five-piece The Rye, whose music has been praised for its expert traditional playing by Mike Farragher of The Irish Voice, NYC, and as fiddle-fueled with that really fantastic ability to make even a stone statue tap its feet (Galway Music Review).

From Wexford in the Southeast of Ireland, Ivan Murray found himself surrounded with the best of traditional music from an early age, his father being a locally highly regarded singer. Gifted both as a singer and guitar player and drawn to musical exploration, he soon started writing his own songs. He went to London at a young age to pursue a career in music that has featured a multitude of musical styles, including solo acoustic gigs, experimental electronic music with Codetalker and currently with X-Klima, and punk-rock outfit The Scars. In his collaboration with Anna Falkenau he follows an urge to revisit and explore his musical roots.

Murray & Falkenau have recently finished recording their debut album The Leipzig Sessions and are looking to release it later this year. They have toured internationally including three tours of Germany, a US tour and a run of gigs in France and the Netherlands.
