*STEREO*. One of my all-time 'favourite of favourites' - and also for Mrs SirBdeB. Rick Nelson singing "Down Home", from his 1963 album 'Rick Nelson Sings For You'. Beautiful and poignant for a lost time.

  • I've always loved this song; it carries so much memories while hearing this song. Especially, now my folks all passed on...

  • @usa21371 ...very poignant for something lost.

  • Gorgeous song, gorgeous voice, gorgeous guy. I wish I lived in this era.

I first heard this song by a girl group (I think maybe The Chiffons) and had no idea it was Rick Nelson's. Does anyone know who recorded the other version.

  • @docchristy00 Truly a great song, emotionally-charged. The 'other' version is by Little Eva. Unfortunately, YT don't allow it to be posted for copyright reason..

  • I would love to hear Alan Jackson cover this! I had not heard this since I was about eight years old! Thanks for the memory!!

  • @johnrobison1 pleased to help bring those good memories back.

  • Love this song - Ricky at his best.....Thomas Wolfe I believe said you can't go home again...and he is right - better left to memories...............

  • Tijon's Nightmares made me think of this classic

  • Mood evoking music. Love the words - "down home is just a memory". Sometimes I think Rick is not singing about a physical location but his earlier life - when things were so simple.......

  • Transported by my Way back Machine, I am sitting in a Soda Shop on the corner of Maple and Main, touching finger tips with a pony tailed beauty named Lucille, making plans to go see a Movie tonight and then going home to scarf down Mom's Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes, so nervous, I almost forget to comb my hair after my shower. Arriving at Lucille's door, her Father with that half smile and serious, 'i'll kill you if you keep her out past 10' invites me in and I nervously wait in the old parlor.

  • poco emocionante

  • @johnrobison1 With all due respect to Alan Jackson (or any other singer) this is best left as is. My opinion only of course.
