During the run of the Celtic Tiger this was probably the one property on the East Coast of Ireland that was depreciating in value . The reason - the local UDC bought the access lane way along with all land right up to the gate, rezoned it urban ( excluding "An Tíginban") and then refused to maintain the access. which had thirty years undisputed right of way and during this period was frequently washing away leaving the equilivant of a craggy river bed This meant this house with land became inaccessible & could not be sold on the open market . It had one buyer the UDC or local Co.Co. The negotiations that followed involved high drama & low Irish politics and ended in a Robin Hood Solicitor (yes one existed ! ) who got struck off as a Solicitor by the Law Society for his involvement . He did not benefit personally at all . There is photographic documentation in this story but as I have learned our legal system deals in money and not Justice at all, so the notion of Right & Wrong is just that .......... a fanciful notion. So this is where a moving picture can paint a thousand words .
I remember that house with great fondness. A nice escape the odd time for an exchange of "peas" and maybe a glass of wine or two or maybe just coffee but always stimulating conversation. Still, we're both in different places now and the kids are practically growd, so, although nostalgia is nice, don't let the fuckers get to you by making you bitter, angry, and miserable!!!!! Love to J and O. Still love you platonically!!!
