How to Create a simple turbine fan in Google Sketchup 7

1. Create a circle
2. Extrude circle on blue axis
3.Connect endpoints from opposite top to bottom on one quarter of the cylinder
4. Create a curved line in each of the faces from top right corner to bottom left corners
5. Extrude the following curved faces to desired length
6. Scale the ends of the turbine blades to taper to a point and shorten horizontally
7. Rotate end of "blade" to desired angle, (do this on all blades at the same angle)
8. Copy entire model and rotate the copy 90 degrees to attach to original
9. Copy half now and rotate copy 180 degrees and attach to original half.
10 Done.

Extras: Create a shroud or housing around the fan and I will show how to do this as well. (Not Shown) Creat cone for top of turbine fan.

Many people who want to do this do not know how to start, so I provide because I learned the hard way.

  • @samfoppen1

Thank you, check out my fuselage modeling videos as well, where I show you step by step how to model a complete airplane - and make it look look good.

  • There will be a huge delay on production, the replicate/rotate copy tool that I am trying to learn is exceptionally difficult to master, even after much practice it is still hit and miss, I am thinking of uninstalling sketch-up due to this.

  • I am producing a new video, which is more in-depth, and in which I use better techniques, coming soon! :)

  • @aizauryte I used the Follow Me tool, on the face of the object.

  • @PeterTenev: F**k you.

@Spartan1893: You are quite welcome; I am glad I could help.

  • Dude, an advice... You should have made one of those wings a component so you don't have to repeat the same action zillions of times :D

And you can copy the wings(components by rotate+ctrl in the beginning
