SASpended: British special forces face biggest cuts since WW2

British special forces are undergoing the biggest cuts since the second world war. The Ministry of Defence needs to downsize the elite SAS after having it's budget slashed. And while the decision may save the government a few pennies many say the cost of axing members of a global asset spells disaster for the country's future.

@shadypark78 This is old news...the government decided NOT to cut British Special Forces and are giving them an extra £3 Billion a year and are recruiting ANOTHER 2000 to 5000 SAS.

Also EX SAS go work for MI5 and MI6 and get privatlet hired. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have just hired EX SAS to protect their home in the south of France. They also get hied to protect from Pirates.

@harrygorrod23 He's rite mate,the SAS have recently said themselves that they are looking to recruit 2000-5000 by 2020 as the members they have now are getting on a bit,their men in their mid 30's to 40's and people wanting to be in the SAS is at an all time low. With Iraq etc people are just going in to the regular Army and getting the action they wanted and not bothering with the SAS. They have been given even more money than before to find new members etc.

Just look at the very first picture of the 'SAS' in this vid. They are not een Brit SAS lol. They are Ozzy SASR. That picture has been mistaken for UK '22 SAS' allot.

@seanmaln This RT story was based off of an article in the Guardian a couple of years ago. It was scaremongering at the time. The SDR (Strategic Defence Review) was then later published and the UKSF was given a boost of cash for more recuits and equipment. Russia Today, like always just didn't follow up on the MoD defence review. The cuts will fall on old cold war kit like the Cr2 tank fleet in Germany.

I think if they are low on money they should cut the politicians income of hundreds of thousands of pounds so that they can keep what ever needs to be kept alive
