While GXSCC is capable of producing decent-sounding music, many people tend to misuse it and create very poor sounding "8-bit" "remixes" without any knowledge of the NES, SCC, Atari 800, or any other 8-bit register audio systems. Many of them are greatly out of tune, and some are even unrecognizable. I highly suggest would-be remixers to use FamiTracker or other accurate emulation systems. If you must use GXSCC, please learn what you're dealing with first!

I've been dying to make this video for almost four years, and I think it's about time I do.

  • What is that "Pokemon" thing with the picture of a piplup in your taskbar?

  • @pikapower427 That's my Pokémon folder. I gave it a Piplup icon.

  • You know by playing that midi song straight from the site, you already technically downloaded said midi file? Unless that "and let's download it" was intentional too.

  • @Chaobreaker I know, but most folks don't know that and don't know much about browser cache.

  • Why did the MIDI sound like that? Answer: In the game, the source file (stored as an SSEQ file) has its tracks assigned to an internally-stored instrument bank (in Black and White, each song has its own bank). When you export the song to MIDI, the instrument assignments transfer to the Microsoft GSynth Wave Table by sound number, not by the sound itself. Also, Track 10 is automatically assigned as a drums track regardless of its prior assignment. Hence the result.

  • @PikalaxALT You are exactly correct. I've noticed many of them don't even bother changing the filename. SEQ_P_WILD_BATTLE, for instance. And yeah, those ones almost always sound completely unmapped.
