Demoing the (discontinued) Terratec Axon AX100MkII Midi-converter. The pickup is a Roland GK3B hexapickup. It took me two weeks to make it work... the pickup manual said to put it as close as possible to the bridge - totally wrong, no sound - I had to place it close to the bridge PU. The tracking is not so good, but I don't know if there's a system with better tracking, maybe Gary Willis' System.

To show you how the tracking is, I put the original bass into the mix. Some notes are missing completely, but that may depend on my not so accurate playing. You have to spend a lot of time with this stuff to make it work. On stage I use almost exclusively pad sounds for chords, where the slow tracking doesn't matter.

The sounds are an Axon onboard synth "Accordion" and a EMU Mo'Phatt "Violetta" mixed. Generally the Axon sounds are very poor standard GM sounds, but the Mo'Phatt has some very interesting sounds!

Sorry, if the both bass videot racks not completely in sync, this is my first "Picture In Picture" try with iMovie and it's kind of tricky to put the tracks exactly in sync.

The "rhythm bass track" is from my "Wilson Effects" video, also here on Youtube.

  • Dude you play well! However, please take a few minutes each day and do some pushups or something!!

  • @4iamu: Sorry for my bad shape, but getting up at 6am bringing kids to school, practicing bass, cooking, pick up kids from school, have dinner, going to teach dysfunctional kids music until 10 pm doesn't leave much room for body workout, so I prefer to be fat and ugly ;-)

  • @heartmood who needs to be healthy when you own a Fodera and can play like that!?

  • @heartmood I completely understand where you're coming from my man! That's why this old fella keeps his shirt on as much as possible.:-) But, bless your soul for sharing your gifts and talents with those less fortunate young people. Tip: it takes about 10 minutes every other morning to bang out a few push-ups, right on your bedroom floor. It's not only good for your external appearance, but will provide you the energy, strength, and bones mass to continue doing what you love, even into old age.

  • i improved tracking using the fingerpick on "but i had little bit more latency." im tring to use modules expander for other sounds.with my pc i had with asio4all abou 8 ms latency wich i had to add to 13ms that axon gived,so were for me impossible go at time with songs.

  • hi.i had to spend many time too with the axon,i use it for guitar.i thinked that i had to put the gk so more possible close to the strings.it is wrong."try to see my axon video tracking problem".i raised it and now tracki very better.another thing, make false note when i use gk with high action.this make that the strings will play an natural harmonic,so axon translate it too and will play the harmonic.i use the pick with should be the most sharp as you can.
