The incomparable Sarah McLachlan performs "Mary" live as part of her spectacular Mirrorball concert series.

Lyrics:

Mary walks
down to the water's edge
and there she hangs her head
to find herself faded
shadow of what she once was

She says "How long have I been sleeping?
and why do I feel so old?
why do I feel so cold?
my heart is saying one thing
but my body won't let go."

With trembling hands she
reaches up
a stranger's flesh is offered

and I would be the
last to know
I would be the last
to let it show
and I would be the
last to go.

Take Her hand
she will lead you through the fire
give you back hope
and hope that you don't take
too much respecting what is left
she cradled us
she held us in her arms
unselfish in her suffering
she could not understand
that no one seemed to have the time
to cherish what is offered

and I would be the
last to know
and I would be the last
to let it show
and I would be the
last to go...

Mary walks...

  • I definitely love this song! Deserves more attention

  • This album "Fumbling towards Ecstacy" is probably the greatest album ever. Each song is like a different colour and when they are all put together make up a masterpiece-timeless and I walk away with something new every time I listen to it.

"mary"-a very underrated song, glad she chose to perform it here.

  • I REALLY LOVE SARAH!!!

  • this song never gets old...

  • This version is closer to the first version I heard, which was from the benefit concert for Kosovo refugees. If you get the chance, listen to that version, it's pretty awesome. But Sarah looks stunning in this video; in the studio version she looks like a pretty wholesome down home girl. Either way she rocks and I absolutely love this song.

  • A beautiful song, video, and woman.

  • this i diffrent version than what i have heard but it's still good :) Thanks for puting this on here!

  • One of her most wonderful
