After the Advance editor forwarded the rejected letter to him, Wrobleski wrote back to Marini: the misspelling of his surname ("Wroblewski") being the only portion of the note he chose to respond to. Marini later commented that Wrobleski needs to learn to spell malapropism.

The Staten Island Advance rejected a letter to the editor (16 February 2009) from Richard Marini. The missive critiqued Tom Wrobleski's sloppy coverage of political issues. Marini argued that Wrobleski should be a monitor of power rather than a publicist for Mike McMahon and the local Democratic Machine.
