Final Fantasy IV After Years Phase Shield/Cutter RNG Force drop

PHASE SHIELD/CUTTER

Level Requirements :
- All characters need to be at least Level 90 or higher for the correct order of battles to take place. [Lv. 99 recommended]

Party Positioning and Equipment :
3 Front, 2 Back, from top to bottom

- Anyone : Doesn't matter.
- Anyone : Doesn't matter.
- Ceodore : Ultima Weapon, Adamant Shield, Adamant Helm, Adamant Armor, Anything
- Rydia : Mystic Whip or Stardust Rod, Adamant Shield, Adamant Armor, Adamant Helm, Adamant Armor, Limit Ring
- Kain : Adamant Shield, Ragnarok, Adamant Armor, Adamant Helm, Adamant Armor, Anything

While this RNG might still work with different equipment, it's suggested that Adamant gear be used simply because it's the easiest way to boost Ceodore, Rydia, and Kain's Speed while boosting Rydia's intelligence by a fair amount. Speed will be important in this RNG, as you'll soon see.

Important stats:
- (Attack Multiplier) : Ceodore x17 or higher, Kain x17 or higher
- Intelligence : Rydia 98
- Lots of speed!

The Attack Multipliers have to be at least 17 and Rydia's Intelligence as high as possible or else you won't be able to kill an Arm with just one Double Jump/Bahamut combo.

How to encounter the important fight:
- Go to the save point on Depths B20 of the True Moon.
- Moon phase isn't important but setting it to New Moon can make things easier.
- Battle Speed can be done at any speed but Speed 3 is recommended.
- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller).
- Headed downstairs to B19 and start running around and getting into encounters.
- Be patient as the encounter rate here is very low.
- Run from everything except a battle with Right Arm and Left Arm.
- You'll only get into 3 enemy encounters in total, with the 3rd fight being the one you want.

Battle Order (battle order or type is different, character levels are too low):
- 1 Right Foot, 1 Left Foot
- 1 Proto-Deathmask
- 1 Right Arm, 1 Left Arm (Pre-Emptive)

1 Right Arm, 1 Left Arm Battle:
- Kain or Ceodore (whoever gets a turn in first) selects Double Jump and targets top hand [for Phase Shield] or bottom hand [for Phase Cutter].
- If Kain or Ceodore doesn't get the first turn, cycle characters using the '+' button until you get either Kain or Ceodore.
- Cycle characters using the '+' button until you get Rydia.
- Rydia selects Bahamut.
- Don't have anybody else do anything; just let Double Jump and Bahamut finish charging.
- Double Jump finishes charging and activates. Hits Left Arm or Right Arm (whichever you chose).
- Bahamut finishes charging and activates. Hits both hands and kills one of the arms.
- Cycle characters using the '+' button until you get Kain or Ceodore.
- Kain or Ceodore selects Double Jump and targets remaining hand.
- Don't have anybody else do anything; just let Double Jump finish charging.
- Double Jump finishes charging and activates. Kills remaining arm.

- Phase Shield drops if top hand [Left Arm] was killed by Bahamut.
- Phase Cutter drops if bottom hand [Right Arm] was killed by Bahamut.

[NOTE: Both Arms must NEVER get in a turn during the whole process above. Once they do, the RNG is more than likely ruined.]

Total time required to get Phase Shield/Phase Cutter : ~Less than 5 minutes from reset.
