Peter uses his famous "Slinky" presentation to demonstrate the effects of trauma on the nervous system, and his philosophy of treating trauma; which involves slowly releasing (or titrating) this compressed fight-or-flight energy a bit at time to give the individual the ability to reintegrate it back into their nervous system.

  • wow... i wish i could meet you. im doing my best to reach out and get help in my community, i had to move here to hide from my husband- once i felt like i was over it i wanted to use my energy to help others but the amount of fatalities i delt with was to much. i ended up with panic attacks tremors muscle twitches. i will look for your book

  • @nhiphop89 Thanks.

  • @merylste Hey I had surgery too that I'm trying to get help for. Cool stuff!

  • @TIGDIF It's good you're aware though. I would try these therapies to start unraveling the mystery. It's never too late!

  • @nhiphop89 Yeah it does but I guess I have adapted to life like this. It feels like 10 life times sometimes but I dont know any other way - I don't and never have known what "normal/un-traumatizedl" is. I am and have tried to rectify it for many years but I have nothing to compare "real life" to. I have not heard of this guy, I will have a look at him. THANK YOU.

    Peace.

  • @TIGDIF THAT REALLY SUCKS. 38 years is a really long time! Have you looked at TRE (David Berceli)?

  • I had a surgery called pyloric stenosis (opening small intestine to stomach) when I was 6 weeks old back in 1973 but back then anesthetic could not be given to small children and infants so I was fully conscious but I cant remember a thing about it even though I realize that it does not really matter that I do! I have lived like a kind of ghost for 38 years and have no "real" life - I have no sense of what it is like to not be traumatized (no before to compare). Incessant thoughts ruin my life!!

  • @merylste David berceli does similar therapy but he developed generic method that can be learned from a book

  • I am so, so impressed with his work...As I am a documentary filmmaker on PTSD - I finally have found my God...Dr. Levine is my new truth source...

  • Peter Levine is amazing. I am a therapist and use somatic experiencing, Mindfulness, and Focusing and experiential psychotherapy to help people who have been traumatised. His ideas and teaching are brilliant. !
