Newgrass in F# is my most recent attempt at a bluegrass-jazz fusion piece. I play all the instruments you hear: electric mandolin, alto sax, tenor sax, tenor recorder, acoustic guitar, with the exception of bass and organ, which I put into GarageBand. Anyway, enjoy, subscribe, rate, and comment.

  • Can you just use a guitar amp and fx pedal for an electic mandolin?

  • @Fan666Maiden yup! Do it all the time. You just gotta figure out the sound u want and maybe any equalization that will compensate for the fact that your playing a mandolin instead of guitar... all depends on the sound u want though.

  • Gotta love Bluegrass Jazz Fusion,

I love this man! =D Nothing more Americain than Bluegrass Jazz Fusion. I love Bela Fleck and wish I knew more artists with stuff like this.

Do you have anywhere where I could buy the mp3?

  • wow that's so nice of you but at this point I unfortunately do not have good mp3s or a way to sell them. But i put up more worthwhile stuff like this on my channel from time to time if you wanna subscribe or something!

  • Wow that's awesome man! That is so lush and orignal, gotta love that electric mandolin sound. on a side note, I have been playing violin for a few years and was wondering: how hard is it to learn to play electric mandolin if I already know how to play violin? Thanks for answering if you get the time ever.

  • thanks! I have a friend who is amazing at violin and decided to buy a mandolin after playing in a band with me. Learning is easier because you can pick it up and already have an idea of where you have to go to play what note. However, she said that after playing mandolin, she would play violin out of tune because the fret distance was a little off from violin difference.

  • it's like nyan cat! :D

  • Very good. Sure takes bluegrass to another level.

  • If you haven't already, check out "Pickin' On The Grateful Dead" volumes 1 & 2.

    REALLLLY GOOOD $H|7, my man!

    (And so is your composition.)

The Dead cover albums I'm talking about are awesome, and are basically the same jazz-bluegrass fusion kind of stuff you're doing here. P.S. It's goddamn great a guy your age is exploring music like that. You're a rare relic already at your tender young age! :-)

  • Sounds great.

  • @bbrizzy89 - Thanks for answering so soon! I've never played one, but I was wondering if the Fender mandolins are any good? I'm afraid I haven't got a bigger budget than about 300 to 400 dollars, so it'll either be a Fender or one of the cheap Epiphones.

  • @keithlegrand im sure you know a lot about sucking dick

  • you suck dick at composing
