jamie hince is one of my favorite modern guitar players -- it's not just his brutal facility with a riff, but his devastating tone and his abrasive use of effects that really do it for me. here, he seems to be employing a straight dropped d tuning (i think the recording is a HAIR under standard for all strings, relatively). one of the most important things i tried to nail was his use of incidental open strings -- mostly the g -- in his playing, particularly in the signature riff of this song.

@timbotones24794 no effects on this one ... i'm playing a 97 american standard telecaster tuned to dropped-d and set on the bridge pickup through a mesa/boogie 55 watt nomad amp. i believe i used just enough gain to get a little dirt on the tone and that i also used moderate-high treble, bass and mids. try running a search for the kills on the guitargeek website ... i found a pretty good thread re: his tone
