Tina Bergmann (hammered dulcimer) and Bryan Thomas (double bass) performing for the "Plays Well with Others (Duos)" community workshop at the 43rd Kent State Folk Festival, Room 318, Student Center, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, United States, Saturday, November 14, 2009.
The tune is a waltz learned from the northeast Ohio harmonica player David Rice, who doesn't know its name but calls it "Slavic Waltz."
Pete Seeger described Tina Bergmann as "the best hammered dulcimer player I've heard in my life," and Bryan Thomas (Tina's husband) is professor of double bass at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, United States.

Hi there. This is really lovely. Did you learn it directly from David Rice? Is he still playing?

David Rice is definitely still playing--harmonica, fiddle, and maybe a few other instruments as well. You can probably find him next week at the Clifftop festival in West Virginia (he usually joins a group called the Hoover Uprights), or in his home area of Northeast Ohio. Bryan and Tina have played in a quartet with him for many years, called Hu$hmoney.
