@Churchx77 kali main weapon is blades, escrima/arnis main weapon is sticks. northen and mid philipine use sticks because spaniard succeed to strip the blade out and escrima/arnis born. silat has no main weapon it may use blunt weapon (impact weapon) or sharp weapon (edge weapon). obviously you dont see the world much enough.
@MrSolitude14 Of course, Kali comes from the US, but then again I also mentionned that FMAs are known under different names. I could have mentionned Balintawak or even Pangamut. Also silat uses staffs not sticks. The stick is definitely the trademark of FMAs.
@Churchx77 ofcourse there are some distingtive moves, but FMA is actually in the same family MA that I called south east asia maritime (side) martial arts. if you research carefully about the history of filippine youll know this fact, and one more thing, I informed by this pinoy-linguist that the word `kali` it self doesnt even exist before the 80`s, he said that this word probably invented by pinoy-american (probably Dan Inosanto).
@MrSolitude14 Kali's main teaching tool is a stick. Theres definitely some overlap in technique but its not the same. Not overall. Shit even in FMA's theres like a hundred different names for the same thing. Kali Arnis Escrima whatever.
@MrSolitude14 Guess not. Oh well I'll go back to my training while you sit there thinking you've accomplished something today.
