Professor Peskin presents the science of why fish oil supplement recommendations are badly misleading and dangerous to your health. While fish oil may make a difference initially with someone who is EFA deficient, long-term usage can cause damage and make you ill. Please visit BrianPeskin.com for full medical references to everything he covers in the video.

  • Professornutrition, what should we eat? I've taken 3 grams of fish oil a day for years. What should I eat? Please help!

  • @marksuave25 What you need is Parent Omegas 6 & 3. Please visit my site for further info: brianpeskin. com.

  • Back to basics. Humans evolved in nutritional scarcity, eating almost nothing in concentration. It took a lot of outdoor activity to capture, collect, or grow food. It's a good bet we got daily megadoses of skin-manufactured vitamin D. D is critical in almost all mental and bodily functions - and NOT meant to be eaten! As for oil - we got plant oil without extracting it into concentration (bad) and then heating it (worse). The only thing we naturally found in concentration was animal fat.

  • @FederalReverse Yes, heating destroys plant-based oils, creating trans fats and hydrogenated oils. Unadulterated, UNprocessed Parent omega 6 and 3 were available to man throughout the ages by eating raw seeds in abundance. Food processing, unhealthy growing methods, and even fresh food treatments before reaching grocery stores is what makes modern Parent oils scarce, therefore supplementation is the best way to get them now. And yes, animal fat was a vital part of man's diet from the beginning.

  • MAGIC BULLET ALERT! Per URL 1_usa_gov/vaZoPH "Specific fatty acids rich in plant oils, such as linoleic acid (the parent omega-6 fatty acid), can amplify PCB toxicity in vascular endothelial cells [15]. There is also evidence that elevated levels of linoleic acid may enhance the cellular availability of PCBs [16]." Fishermen and land-locked Tibetans both live to 100.. working outside. Eat all foods, don't fry, go outdoors 2 hrs daily to get proper skin-produced vitamin D and never supplement.

  • @FederalReverse Unfortunately this is one of the main problems why medical recommendations keep failing us.They are simply wrong. Fully functional, unadulterated Parent omega-6 comprise the endothelial cells and are required. Fully functional linoleic acid (parent omega-6) is absolutely required. Please read my medically and scientifically referenced literature to gain a real understanding of these very important facts.

  • After spending hours looking at the research that has come from Harvard, I have an seen enormous amount of information coming from them that supports the fact that Fish Oil helps on many levels. You quote only one, which I could not find. Wake up! If fish oil was killing people and causing harm, we would have no Japanese, no Chinese and certainly no Eskimos on the planet right now.

  • From my experience I take a lot of Fish Oil capsules everyday, and I felt a whole lot better in my mood, and my joints worked again...I just don't agree with this Doctor.

  • @marksuave25 Instead of fish oil, eat flax seeds. Just ground them with a coffee grinder and put them in a smoothie. Or have some flax seed oil on a salad. A lot healthier if you want your omega 3

  • who were these people you tested this on.. they sound like couch potatoes who smoke ^^

  • I started taking a top of the line essential fatty acid 3 days ago. Today I have started having severe chest pain. I will not take anymore until consulting my doctor. What could be causing this?
