@EDP407 I totally agree with this comment. Saying it's all of X country/manufacturers fault is ignorang and narrow minded.

My father had a 2004 Peugeot 307 Break 1.6 HDI 110. He drove 180000 km within 3 years, it was as reliable as a car can get, plus it was seriously economic. He now drives a Citroen C5 I Break 2.0 HDI 135 and actually regrets that decision - the entire ESP system constantly fails, the brake makes noises, and so on.

bullshit, just the guy do not know what does the proper maintenance means !!!
-
peugeot is the biggest diesel engines producer in the world, they do something right don't you think?
although i prefer a tdi.

I have Peugeot 307, 2004. 1.6 HDi 80kW, i dont have this problem. It goes just fine, like its purchased yesterday. Its all about maintaince and driving quality.

It's not because of the French cars, it's because French people tend to not maintain their car very well. Service a car properly and it will run for years and years but if you don't, this stuff might happen

looks like too rich... injection problem, EGR stuck or maybe very low quality gasoil. That's a lot of carbon deposits. All diesel cars, and especially recent ones, may produces as much smoke. Not only french ones !

I think it's all about the maintenance and not about Peugeot.
stupid user, who put the video with the dumb commentary.
