  • Richard Clapton....the other Clapton, a world class musician that never got the international attention he deserved. So great to see his work on youtube! This Yank'll never forget the show I saw him perform at the Palm Beach Surf Club in the Aussie Summer of '88, MAGIC!

  • Thanks for this!

  • This was a killer song and one of Claptons best in my opinion.

I am surprised that no one gives credit to the great drumming on this track. I am pretty sure it is Mark Meyer, who has done some great drumming with some great Aussie bands including Stylus, moving pictures, Sharon O'Neill, etc.

I might mention that it was only last year that I actually understood the lyric in the chorus, "I needed you like oxygen" ;-)

  • Yep it's Mossy on the track and Barnes singing backing vocals. The late Harvey James in the video who was a great guitar player in his own right and a lovely guy. RIP Harvey.

  • i put him way in front of that other Clapton . and he's not famous for doing terrible versions of JJ Cale songs either

  • @Gairlochan its Harvey James , played for Sherbet in the late seventies

  • @RettroDood Great song memorys of listening to 3xy am station many decades ago , by the way thats Ian moss playing lead guitar on that track ' listen to his key signiture licks, stands out a mile'.

  • @WellMeaningGentleman , the term, "you've got to have a lot of talent to be a successful solo pop/rock artist in the seventies with those looks." always springs to my mind. I'm amazed the suits didn't keep him in a back room doing the songwriting and pick some half-way good-looking bloke to at least lip-sync in the videos, at least at the beginning of his career. I grew up with his music and it's remained a part of my internal musical landscape, which is more than I can say for most artists.

  • Who's the lead guitarist in this video, anyone know?

He's really got music in his fingers … smooth, expressive style, not too much of a speed freak … Got some of Mossy's fluidity of playing without sounding anything like Mossy.

    Anybody?

  • Taking nothing away from him as he's tops. But looking at him in this clip, the term "Boofhead come to mind".

  • good too see theres no dislikes great tune
