Part 4 of Leon Flamholc's documentary (1987), from a 5 month undercover journey with the mujahedin inside Afghanistan, during the Soviet occupation. Leon travelled by foot from Peshawar, through Kandahar up to Herat, filming guerilla's fight against the Soviet army.

@unjustification I am deeply sorry about everything that has happened to this beautiful, proud country. In England 99% of people do not want any wars, anywhere at all, not Afghanistan and not Iraq. It makes me so ashamed that our politicians take us to war when we should just concentrate on our own country. I hope that Afghanistan finds peace and that people will be able to visit once again. You are also correct about the pipeline.

@afg96 The PDPA wasn't created through a Soviet invasion, as you say! It was founded in January 1961, and it seized power after a revolution at April 27, 1978. The United States started to supply the terrorists at June 3, 1979. At December 27, 1979, Soviet forces was placed in Afghanistan. The Soviet operation was known as OPERATION STORM-333. READ ABOUT IT and then come back and admit that you said the most idiotic thing I've heard yet and I laugh now of you, dumb terrorist. TERRORISM SUCKS!

17 July 1973: A coup committed by prime minister Daoud Khan against the Shah, Mohammad Zahir Shah.

1975: Islamist coup attempt by Gulbuddin and Rabbani.

28 April 1978: Daoud overthrown by revolution. PDPA seizes power.

June 1979: US support to rebels.

14 October: President Taraki killed by prime minister Amin. Amin takes power.

24 December: KGB launches Operation Storm 333. Goal: Killing Amin.

27 December: Soviet troops in Afghanistan.

1992: End of democracy.
