Isokinetic leg curl/extension is a push/pull machine. You use the quads to extension then curl with the hamstring, no eccentric. It really teaches the body to relax the antagonist muscles while the agonist contracts maximally at high speed. It's my all-time favorite exercise, I used to workout on the computerized version of this type of machine when I was in the US. The gains in power were phenomenal. My vertical jump went from 30in to 38inches in like 12 weeks.

Then Squat 5@220kg. Squat from pins 232.5kg which is a 5lbs personal best!. And finally 2@215kg. Changed a little my technique on squat. Little wider stance, bar little lower, knees coming less forward. Felt a little better overall.

  • dude this same machine is in my gym n my neighborhood! im trying to dunk at only 5'9". i was a lil skeptical about it increasing my vert, but since it helped u alot, it inspired to want to start using it on the regular! i can get rim but lets c wut i can do in 12 weeks. I kno i need to lift heavy with low reps for explosiveness. when u shud increase the weight tho? every week go up 5-10 pounds or so?

  • @AtomicCrane Yeah give it a shot. Use this isokinetic machine 2-3 times a week and do about 8 sets each leg. One heavy, 4 medium and 3 very light. For the compound movements you can do multiple sets of 3 reps at 30-60% or pyramid up the weight and shoot for a 1-5RM for the day (just one final max set). Go by feel, if you can increase by 5-10lbs it's awesome, sometimes you won't be able to, you might even feel weaker sometimes, if this is the case do more explosive sets at lower % for that day.
