I agree completely about Patents, yet I'm not so harsh concerning Copyrights. Though, I think copyrights should be done very differently.
I think it comes down to this question "Can I violate Patents/Copyrights by pure chance accident, by simple virtue of being an innovator?"
In Patents the answer is an obvious "Yes"; it happens often. In Copyrights, violation by accident is quite difficult and rare.
I don't blame Microsoft though. They simply used an already corrupt system to their advantage

Microsoft windows is with secret code.
I also dont want to use it anymore because who knows what windows will transfer to their central server?

I remember this story from way back, I think Mitt Romney was one of the people proposing to do this, i thought about it a lot, this would have been a great resource for those kids, who cares if some will use it for messing around and having fun, what about those kids who are thirsty for an education and ready to tackle information and learn, they should not be deprived especially when this was so easy to distribute, overall it's sad they let it go, thanks for the info didn't know any of this....

ok, thanks.
I downloaded it already, but i will go for Kubuntu, it is easier.
Great vid. Agree with you on intellectual rights, copyright, patenting the lot but there may be cases ... ??
I think Microsoft sued to have the hardware adjusted so the unit *could* run XP too.
internetnews:
--- "The intention is to create a version of the XO laptop that provides the ability to host both Windows and Linux operating systems, giving users the ability to run either on the XO laptop," a joint statement from the two organizations said. ---
Do the pc's haveto have XP ????

If I know microsoft, their goal is to just collect a licence fee from every machine sold, even if the end user doesn't want to run a microsoft OS. The microsoft tax.

>Gentoo is something for beginner and very graphical, like Ubuntu?
Oh my goodness no, not for beginners, not at all. The exact opposite.
The idea behind Gentoo was to make it so you could have a linux distribution and keep it up to date with the absolute latest cutting edge programs and drivers and kernel. You install it once and it's easy to update.
In practice...it demands a great deal from the user. It's not really user friendly like ubuntu.

I also stopped using microsoft windows months ago.
I am using a mac for some years, and especially several Linux versions like opensuse, or Ubuntu. Which one is yours?
I dont like windows because of those big memory usage, viruses, spam, expensive additional programs, idiotic amount of updates, etc.
