  • The year was 1974 (april) sunny hot day the concert started at 10 am and ended about 12:30 am the next early morning. Both deep purple and ELP were the headliners.

  • I guess that in the front line few realized how great was to be there in real time .... fucking great years indeed

  • @hartles99him i was there, April 6, 1974 , i was 17 and i was in front as close as possible

  • The bass player looks like a muppet!

  • @Innerspace100 I've read up on them on wikipedia. I really love their music with whatever lineup they used. It's really cool Ian Gillan is still with them. Glenn Hughes is doing great for himself. I just saw him on a video last year singing with Tonni Iommi for HH Tribute right after Ronnie died.

  • @mikemaninblack In mk II there was only one guy who could sing, really. Both the mk I and II line-ups had just one lead singer (Rod Evans and and Ian Gillan respectively). The idea of using two singers was new for Purple when Coverdale and Hughes joined in '73. I suggest you listen/read up on Deep Purple!

  • @1stSaintsFan thats freakin awesome! lucky you!

  • HAIL

  • @jrios602 It was great..see my comment above...

  • I started buying records at 12yrs old in 1969....I bought Machine Head when it was hot and new in 1972...followed DP and GLEN HUGHES since the 70s...Loved GLEN'S band TRAPEZE...when Ian quit and the "BURN" album came out I was ready for the change..GLENN and the unknown at that time D. Coverdale were a GODsend...Just more classics LP......THis song sounded so great driving down the country roads of La. a Smoking, a tokin and a drinking....

  • I wish I wouldve been a teenager at that time.. the music was so much better then it is now....lucky people that were blessed to have gone to this concert!

  • @Eszpresszo I'm familiar with both Glenn Hughes and Ian Gillan because they both also sang for Black Sabbath. Both of these guys sound identical. The only difference I've noticed is Ian Gillan screams a lot. How come after Gillan left they wound up using two singers?
