Over the summer of 2011 I embarked on a project to bike and document all 50 state avenues in Washington DC. Here is the final product. The filming took place over the course of 4 days. When possible state avenues are represented with landmarks the streets are near/well known for. Certain states do appear more than once but are only credited once.

The video was shot riding a Trek 2.1 using a Flipcam and edited in iMovie. The song is called Siege Engine by Buckethead.

Looks best if viewed in 480p!

Check out the following link for a great article on the history of DC's state avenues:

Fact Check Update: Not all state aves are created equal! Please note that Ohio Drive is incorrectly labeled an an avenue.

  • Fun video... I'm on Capitol hill and have a short 'bike dc' video loaded up too. Just picked up a new GoPro to do a big bike video of all the monuments soon. Hope to see you around town getting footage!

  • did you blow through 4 or 5 red lights at the end with the text "be safe and share the road" going across the screen?

  • Thanks so much for the fantastic ride. Saw places I've never seen including Hawaii Ave.!

  • Great creative effort. Too fast, dizzying. Well done nephew!

  • Pro: What fun! I'm a native Washingtonian, and I really appreciate this tribute to our city! Any chance we can see your route on Google maps?

Con: As a native Washingtonian, I have to agree with vivalapsych...and what about that other great native Washingtonian musical innovator, Marvin Gaye? I turned the sound off and turned on "Got to Give It Up." Now that's fun!

  • What a great video. It was fun to try and figure out where you were. Thanks for this.

  • very nice!

  • captivating!! stunning!! Who was the pretty woman in the first scene?!

  • Pretty neat...but personally I think I'd have enjoyed a soundtrack of Chuck Brown or Duke Ellington. Just tried it....much better. I mean Buckethead???....Pee-You!
