  • I'm gonna ask about this little piece of solder every time you get on the tip..Is it for better heat transfer?

  • @baranismen Yes

  • thank you!:) i needed this vid to help me to be able to replace a speaker for my gameboy :) only thing, i haven't started yet, just wondering, if its normal for the iron to smoke out of its holes when its on? i just bought a iron but im kind of nervous to use it since it seems to give off smoke, is that normal to happen with a new one? its a 60W 110V/120V

  • @narutojasmine Yes some do smoke a bit when they are first used. 60W is a bit high wattage for electronics but it should work for wiring. Don't melt the speaker lead.

  • Great video! beautifully done with the close up's. Most videos are much too far away and you can't see what the person is doing. This was great. Thanks.

  • @Gary1497 Your welcome and thanks

  • @LauxHawk it depend of the size of your soldering. If you need to solder big power connectors on a PCB, you need 1, or 2 mm diameter of tin. For the classics components, you can use 0,5, 0,7, or 1mm. If you need to solder very fine chip, it's sure you need 0,4mm diametere tin.

In fact, there is some soldering technique where diameter is not very important, cause only the melting tin on the tip of the iron is used by "drag" on the component. So, all diameters are good.

  • @heatfilter You are welcome

  • Thanz i knew how to solder about everything accept wires together thanx

  • This is the perfect How-To video ahead of a project I have coming up, thank you.

  • The basics are good BUT you would want to splay multi-strand wire before twisting together whenever possible instead of twisting the end before twisting the splice together. Makes a much cleaner splice.

  • Dude, you expect me to listen to you as a self-proclaimed expert when you can't even pronounce "solder"???? I'm sure you know what you're doing, but it's pronounced "soLdering", not "soddering"! Is your Father "odder" than you? No, he's "older". Does your fridge make things "codder"? No. Just remember, older, folder, colder, holder, SOLDER! Now you know.

  • Great tutorial

  • Thanks I'm powering a treehouse with solar panels and now I know how to solder the wires:D

  • This video was worth it's time. Great tutorial.

  • good stuff. bout to install a new pickup into my guitar for the first time. has never used a soldering gun.

  • @X2YeZCAMCNC Hey I keep getting the cold solder thing, what do I do?
