As I stated before, a similar question could be raised as to why someone would need a sports car capable of going faster than the speed limit. Does liking or wanting one mean that you wish to break the law and outrun the police? People enjoy driving them (hopefully in a safe manner). The same can be said for firearms. So long as people use them in a safe and responsible manner, it doesn't matter if they are practical or not.
