He was allegedly paid $30,000. I believe the University of Colorado paid him $20,000 for his talk at their university two days prior.

I don't agree with anything he has ever said, but that protest was far from interesting and was by no means critical resistance. That kind of stuff makes "liberals" look dumb and self-aggrandizing.
