International music stars from the world of rock, blues and jazz celebrated the life of Jeff Healey on Saturday with the songs he loved best.
Rocker Randy Bachman, guitarist David Wilcox, bluesman Colin James and singer Alannah Myles were among the artists who took the stage at the Sound Academy in Toronto in the first of two weekend tributes to Healey, which featured classic hits from the performers and video footage of the blind guitar hero in action.
The concert also featured former Cream vocalist and bass player Jack Bruce and Deep Purple's Ian Gillan. Both played with Healey several times in his storied career.
God bless Jeff Healey. We think of you often and are grateful for your wonderful musical legacy - Jazz Wizards, Rock, Blues. A fan in Toronto

I caught one of Jimmy's shows last year and believe me he is no poser. What a talent!

who's the long haired kid on the black Strat? Why wasnt Phil Sayce here? That Bowskill kid gets on my nerves.. he wants to pose more than play. You can always tell when someone feels it, or fakes it for effect. Sayce feels it, Bowskill fakes it.

yes, it was "Speechless" from his "Bad Habits" album. He wrote it as his tribute to SRV (his mentor) and plays it here for Jeff. Great song.

I was there, sang with the Jeff Healey Alumni put together by Rob Quail, with Pat Rush, Gerome Godboo, Cassius Perrera, Joe Rockman. It was a bittersweet night. All of us held it together till the video montage at the end, and then there was not a dry eye in the house. I miss him still. He was an amazing guy.

I was there! I was second row on the right side.
The first guitarist in this video - that's Jimmy Bowskill. That kid has talent. He totally blew me away.
I was SO excited to see Colin James perform. I've known his music since I was four years old but, until this point, had never seen him perform live. He played four songs, and I took over 90 pictures. Excited much? Yeah... I think so too. Haha.

I always know Colin James as soon as I hear him. Just something about the way he plays.
Thank you Jeff Healey, may all the Angel Eyes be on you now.
