Hi Luke,

Was wondering if you could give some advice to help me get this Japanese AES up and running? As you can see I'm using a UK mains adaptors, have dismantled and cleaned but have a garbled picture. I think it's the cart slot contacts but can't be sure. have you ever seen this?

  • Hello. I had a similar prblem and found a broken trace on the left side of the console between two graphic chips. I manage to resolder it and now it's working fine!!

I recommend you to use a multimeter, set it to test continuity and test all the lines.

  • @miguel924 Thanks for the info Miguel, the console is in storage but I plan on getting it out and testing it using your technique. I'll let you know how it goes!

  • Did you ever get this fixed?

  • @SupremeJudge Hi, thanks for the followup! I have favourited Luke's last 2 AES fix vids and will be using them to try and fix the problem. I am moving house though so haven't got access to the broken console at the moment. I think I found a broken trace before but it wasn't from the cart slot. I haven't the steadiest of hands when it comes to soldering. After your previous comment I looked at some trace repair vid on YT - I'll give it a go and report back. Thanks for taking an interest mate.

  • You have some broken traces from the cart slot or the slot needs to be cleaned really good. It would be the slot closest to the 68K CPU.

  • @SupremeJudge Thanks for the response judge. I've given the slot a serious clean with no results, I gave the game a similar treatment. Not sure how to identify the broken traces? I'll send a new vid, I could post a high res photo of an area of the board if needed.

  • @lukemorse1 Will do Luke, Cheers.

  • You know what bro, I think you should check out the JammanationX web site. Also check out: SupremeJudge here on YT, he knows a lot about the neo and put up a lot of effort into fixing them. if you check the jammanationx website, click on neo-geo aes and there a few tutorial on there. SupremeJudge runs that site
