Very interesting approach. I've learned that a bit of a stricter (most words decodable with no sight words in very early stages) is the "safest" bet with most children, but I like that you've included numerous phoneme/grapheme connections within this book. It is rare in beginning reading materials. The illustrations are a very interesting idea as well! Well done.

perhaps, but these help kids. research shows 20 month olds learned sight words in 18 10-min. sessions; kindergarten & 1st graders learned more words compared to plain print; non-verbal children with autism attempted words within 4 weeks; Head Start kids learned more vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and alphabet; dyslexics easily learn them. I suspect you are young & never spend time with kids who struggle or are just learning, but remember them - in the future someone you know may need them.
