Check out this preview of X-Men: A Comics Evolution, the forthcoming documentary from Sequart and Respect Films that chronicles the meteoric rise of the X-Men comics series in the 70s and 80s, and its continued success in the present. It features interviews with key X-Men creators from the 80s, including Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Ann Nocenti and Jim Shooter, as well as current creators Jason Aaron, Matt Fraction and more.

This clip spotlights Marvel Editor in Chief Jim Shooter, and his no nonsense approach to comic books.

  • Ann Nocenti is as wrong as humanly possible. His flaw was, that he did NOT get "fascistic" about things, when the hell he SHOULD HAVE.

    Nice legs, though.

  • Fun Fact: Shooter started writing Legion of Super Heroes because he thought it was the worst comic book there was and thought "pfft. I can write better shit then this." This is from the forward from a recent legion TPB collection.

  • Jim Shooter is such a misunderstood genius. It's really criminal how he was actually blamed for things he had nothing to do with (the Kirby artwork debacle, etc) while given no credit for rescuing a company that was in decline.
