Urban Farming Detroit, Michigan
Edgeton Community Garden. Operation: Build local economic power structures.
I started this Community Garden in my neighborhood March this year to bring awareness of our food desert situation in this neighborhood.

We don't have easy access to fresh locally grown food or any type of local economics to build with.

Stay tuned as W.D.Gardner tries to establish some gardens in the community to create local jobs for some of the youth in the neighborhood.

  • Keep doin ya thing man. I live in the D also and Im a trained chef. Just recently I lost my job and I started a garden. Its good for the soul man.

  • Thanks very much!!!

I lost my job as well a few months back. Im glad I had this garden to fall back on. The neighbors respect it and enjoy seeing the lot as a productive food source.

  • Bro It really does my heart good to see you doing it big in the neighborhood. Check our school out there on the East side Nsoroma Institute (Afrikan Centered School). The school sits on a site w/ a Catholic Church there between Joann and Fairport off of 8 mile and Schoenner area. We just moved there this past school year. We have a few raised boxes there but the Director/Principal Baba Malik Yakini is over the Detroit Black Food Security Network. check out African American Family Mag this mo

  • Wonderful. Thanks for viewing. I'm one of the beekeepers for D-Town farm. And I'm a active member of the DBCFSN. Thats where I started. The movement continues....

  • Great garden. My garden all went to shit with the cold weather and rain. My cucumbers, bush beans and lettuce all rotted. My tomatoes are going to be late.

  • Thanks. Yes the weather has been weird this year.
