The campus of Misericordia University is buzzing after Bishop Joseph Martino blasted a guest speaker. The school invited Keith Boykin to campus. Boykin has written on homosexuality.

Martino says the author's beliefs are "disturbingly opposed to catholic moral teaching."

NEPA Rainbow Alliance & GayNEPA.com advisory board member Rev. Daniel C. Gunn is interviewed.

  • Great to see the university standing by its principals and the interviewed members of the public also expressing a reasonable, fair opinion.

Looks like the Catholic church is just digging itself another hole. If they are certain of their righteousness then they should welcome discussion, so that they can demonstrate their righteousness, rather than trying to censor out contrary views.

  • Theres a lot of people. Some people are gay. get over it

  • Glory to Jesus Christ for strong and faithful Bishops like His Excellency Bishop Martino. The fact that the homosexual act is an offense against God is not just a Catholic teaching, it is knowable by all by sound reason and applicable to all who have the ability to reason. Furthermore, if this fellow intends to praise Barry Sotero, that's a double wammy. He despises the Church's moral teaching on just about every issue. Than you your excellency!

  • I go to Misericordia..... I am SO with the bishop!!! I NEVER got the feeling my school "lived up to it's Catholic identity". Misericordia is too secular to be Catholic!

  • It is so disappointing to see such negative reactions coming from the bishop. Misericordia University's missions (Mercy, Service, Justice, and Hospitality) certainly would not deny a speaker with such a wealth of knowledge to address the community. Having an awareness of others realities, beliefs, views, and values is something every student should have the right to.

  • The bishop really needs to go to Misericordia and look at its mission. They maintain a great community of volunteers and together they create a wonderful atmosphere for students.

Bishop, you need to come to reality.

  • More and more religious leaders are recognising the loving relationships of gay people all over the world. Father Daniel is just one example of REAL Christians opposing the more demonic wing of Christianity.

  • the bishop overreacted way to much he just has to come to the fact an know that this world is changing a lot an that there is a lot of different people from all different beliefs backgrounds gay straight bisexual doesn't matter we are all the same

  • I agree. Certainly the bishop overreacted.
