But we expect government to more with less! The user fees for roads, don't cover the full cost of them. Never did.

No the highway lobbys answer is to cut transit. This they hope will make you drive! Now their pushing BRT"S Bus Rapid Transit. It's set up like a light rail. But it's pavement. If it fails like most do. It's just an other road. Good for you Portland! Glad you got the money to finally fix the roof of Portland Union Station. After 30 years of leaks. While the government GAVE 88 billion to the highways! There used to be taxes on train tickets, guess what they spent the $ on? ROADS!

I'm proud to pay taxes. For that means I'm a productive part of society.That $600 dollar check Bush sent out to buy the election, and the other checks, didn't help did it? Where do you think they got that money? I don't want to live in a 3rd world country with no services. That's what you'd have if we didn't pay taxes.

There should be a $10 a gallon tax on gas to cover the expense of all the wars for it. This would also reduce the trillon dollars we spend a year on overseas oil. The highway lobby needs to be controlled. People are driving less and we have the biggest budget busting highway bills ever. It's always good times for the highway lobby. No matter whose in office. And you can follow their power all the way to the middle east.

Keep taxes for the basics, safety, education and transportation, cut the fluff! Corporations pay far more than $10 in taxes, that is a yearly fee for administration. Corporations paying only $10 is NOT completely accurate. Jobs will be lost - do not believe this! Almost 60% of this tax increase pushed on the people is for PERS (PUBLIC EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM) do not let the proponents fool you that this is for the "kids"........

3 trillion on wars and counting 24 trillion on bailouts 10 trillion in debt thats just the federal tally the banks 200 trillion in derivatives state and city govts are bankrupted So there will be many plans to rob the people blind Americans are the highest taxed people in the industrialized world. parts of the country look more bombed out than Bagdad the people have become numb with taxes not one word about cutting the size of govt though .
