nice, but get this man a stool!, not many people are just the right height for tympani, and it makes it easier for pedal work

i have entertained the idea of using a stool but i'm not sold on it yet. yes a stool is good for tuning but i only tune twice in this solo and for the amount of movement involved, i like having the freedom of standing up. but you are right with the high thing...it is a little awkward but not bad

im going to play it for tryouts for district band. and im in 9th grade. lol im freaking out.

Since the piece involves so much movement, I think it's easier to stand while playing this solo. It's very daunting when you first look at it but once you break it down, it's a blast. I'm performing this for my College Sophomore Jury on Tuesday. This is a great video to watch for a basic idea on how this piece should sound!

Also, I stood while performing this piece too! It's much easier to maneuver that way in my opinion. Also, instead of using the backs of my sticks, I changed to hard mallets.

I played this solo too!! A very fun solo. Daunting at first, but once you get the quick parts to flow smoothly it's really great! Terrific job!
