Yes, maybe we just concentrate on countries with less corruption at first, either that or we provide funding at a very local level. Thank you for your comments anyway.

There needs to be better systems in place to ensure that aid goes to where it is needed.
Until this happens, foreign aid oftentimes becomes an enabler of the very thing that it is trying to end... doing more harm than good.

There is an undeniable link to poverty & corruption.
I live in a 3rd world country & see the effects of corruption on a daily basis.
It affects everything- health, education, the environment.
It is important to end poverty & foreign aid is necessary for this to happen.
However, it's difficult even locally to provide funds or even direct supplies to those who need it bcz there's always someone looking for a way to profit.

Thanks for that, the great thing about this book is that it's very difficult to attack Jeffrey Sachs's credibility because he's an insider with a worldwide reputation.

I'm going to favourite this video so that I remember to pick up that book. Well said, Tony.
Interesting video, as usual we disagree but I won't bore you with my view

Lol I wouldn't be bored, I watched an hour of debate on here about how much good if any foreign aid does, this issue really interests me. Thanks for watching.

I'd be interested in reading that book. I think you are spot on regarding foreign aid and corruption. Foreign aid is not just as simple as labeling it as welfare.

Yes, the people we need to help are hard-working people, particularly the women. However too much of their time is wasted fetching water; we need to provide water close by so the women can work more productively.
