theaussieshop.co.uk very kindly lent me a Coolabah Swag bag to test - just to see if it was practical to take on a bike for a long trip.

It was a total success and I'm now seriously considering taking one to Russia - with all the modern tents on the market that fold up to the size of a wallet I think we may have lost something when we left canvas behind.

  • ok how did you find the Aussie Shop to deal with. I phoned them and the woman who answered said she was going to update the website as it was showing all Swags out of stock and they expected them in about March time. She also said she would email me the next day to reserve a bag when they came in. i havent received that email yet and i really dont want to be dealing with a company that wont deliver the goods

  • @coolrunnings1021 sorry this took so long - I hadn't seen your comment. I found them really good - but then they were giving me a swag to test and film so I certainly wasn't your normal customer - I know that's not very helpful. I hope you've sorted things out as the gear is rock solid.

  • how did you go with the canvas base???

I've had 2 swags one with a canvas base and PVC base.

now im going to purchase a B&W and they only offer it in canvas base.

did it leak, was there condensation/dew on the bottom?

I usually use a tarp over when i use a swag but am still undecided weather to go with the Coolabah canvas base or the Darche superdome PVC base.

I like the B&W because its Aussie made, but the Darche has the PVC base which im a fan of, but their made in china

  • @Pumpaction06 Canvas base was ok although I must admit when it was wet I put a groundsheet down first. The problem with the canvas is that once it's wet, if you don't dry it when you roll it up it soaks through, leaving it less waterproof. I came to the conclusion that it wasn't going to be a viable option for an extended trip where rain was very likely on a daily basis. Build wise the B&W is fantastic - the canvas construction would survive a bomb blast and even in the worst rain I was dry.

  • I own 9 different tents...and I wish I'd have found you before spending all this money 8-) GREAT REVIEWER you are.

    Thank you for your vids

  • As an Australian it feels a bit strange checking out a swag review on UK You Tube. But it was a bloody good review. Thank you very much good Sir!

I've heard so many rave reports by campers about swags that I thought I'd better check them out. Over here you see them tossed into the back of utes and it really does make for quick easy camping set-ups.

They also come in a double bed set-up and tossed into the back my 4x4 it could just get my wife camping.

  • i got this for christmas

  • this is a great thing how was the camp

  • @mrfireclaw the problem with the termarest is that it's really bulky for the degree of comfort that you get - a much better (although much more expensive) solution is the Exped Down or Syn Mats - they pack down much smaller, they're lighter and they're more confortable.
